Discovering Laguna : Tay-tay Falls

Located in Luzon, Laguna is well known not only for its delicacies and other products but mainly for the beauty of its natural resources. Hot spring resorts are one of its attractions here making it a magnet for many backpackers, travelers and even a whole family. This also made Laguna be known as the "Resorts Capital of Luzon". Amazing, isn't it?

But aside from hot spring coming from Mt. Makiling, did you know that there are other attractions in this beautiful province that many backpackers enjoyed going to? If you are not a local of Laguna, and you are one of those backpackers looking for your next destination, you might want to check these attractions that I will be featuring in this Discovery blog series of mine.

Taytay Falls is situated on Majayjay, Laguna. This is my first visit to the falls and truly it is one unforgettable experience for me. I could say that this place is really awesome in its unique way.

In the road.
Green fields of Laguna
Going there, we left Cavite at around 6 am. Getting to our destination will took hours (approximately 3 hours) and for some, it could be tiring. But since my friends and I really have the joy of seeing the work of God through nature, we manage to stand that long hour-drive and enjoyed the shift of scenery from houses into green trees and fields as we passed through the towns of Laguna.

We were already in Majayjay proper when we passed by the barangay and we've been asked for an environmental fee of P20/person for a day trip. Pay for P30/person if you want to enjoy the night at the falls.

At long last (by the grace of God) we arrived at the jump off point at around 10 am and were even more excited to see the falls. From there, we noticed that there were few stores where you can buy foods and some houses who had their rooms being rented for an overnight stay or so. According to one of the store owners, there were also some developed resorts nearby where visitors can rent rooms. We didn't rented one though, as we only plan to have a day trip. People on the jump-off were so thoughtful as they keep on reminding us about bringing everything we need before starting the trek towards the falls, thus, saving our efforts from going back again just in case we forgot something. Such lovely people!!! (^_^).

Along the trail.
Moving on, the trek started. I was expecting that the trail will be rough and stiff since, of course, it's a mountain. But little did I know that the trail I expected do not exists, as the way is already concrete making it easier to get to the falls. (We're so so blessed! :> ). Midway on the trail, I noticed the crystal clear water flowing in the canal on its side. I couldn't endure just looking at it so i dipped a foot and felt its coolness. I was amazed! We walked and walked and I can hear the splash of the water getting louder. After 10-15 minutes of walking, we at last saw the beauty of Taytay falls (yeeeyyy!!).

At the Falls.
The first thing I noticed after we arrived on the falls was its damp and cool temperature due to the trees and bamboos surrounding it, making it really an ideal getaway during hot weather. Then, there's one local who ushered our group into an area where we can put up a tent and fix our belongings and prepare our food. By the way, there were comfort rooms in the vicinity where you can take a bath and change. At around 11 am, we prepared to dip into the water. There were a dike built to gather the water directly from the falls which created a pool of water overflowing the dike and going into the lower part of the falls. This man-made dike is where the visitors swim. Going near the falls, we we're surprised to see the clearness of the water. On my estimation, the water level is around 4 ft near the side of the dike and we can see the rocks clearly under. Awesome isn't it?. At first, I hesitated to dip into the water because it's really chilling cold, but then, remembering the hours we traveled to get there, I decided to swim anyway (lol). Not minding the coldness anymore, we we're able to enjoy the water like kids...

Enjoying the Water

After hours of swimming and taking pictures I was able to observe the place more. Aside from the trees covering the whole place and clear waters, there lies big rocks down the stream which for me, made the place more appealing. We we're able to capture some moments on those rocks as well (^,^). We really enjoyed this trip all throughout.

On the rocks
It's nice to know that there were still places like this that we can find in some provinces in the Philipines. I personally hope that this place will be taken cared of for the future generations to see and enjoy

If you also want to experience going here and see the place, you can check out my next  blog:

It will give you directions and guides on how to get to Taytay falls (via private or public transport).
